Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are transforming the way we design, construct, and maintain concrete structures. The fib Special Activity Group 2 (SAG2) explores how these technologies can enhance efficiency, sustainability, and resilience in structural concrete engineering — while ensuring ethical integrity and human oversight remain at the core of engineering practice.

SAG2 operates through three working groups addressing AI integration at both strategic and operational levels:
- WG1 – Ethical AI Integration in Structural Engineering: Exploring ethical, professional, and long-term implications of AI adoption.
- WG2 – fib Large Language Model: Transforming fib’s collective knowledge into digital tools powered by domain-specific AI.
- WG3 – Research Databases and Ontologies: Establishing shared data structures and semantic frameworks for reliable, interoperable AI applications.
We warmly invite experts and early-career researchers from academia, industry, and public institutions to join SAG2 and contribute to shaping the future of AI and digitalisation in structural concrete.
