Registration is open for the sixth International Conference of the Asian Concrete Federation, taking place in Seoul, Korea, from 21 to 24 September 2014. The theme is the conference is "Asian Concrete Vision 2030", which will focus on identifying what is best for the future direction of Asian Concrete Federation (ACF) and expanding ACF’s vision of concrete research and its impact on both local and global communities.

Registration is open for the 10th International Symposium on High Performance Concrete – Innovation & Utilization, taking place in Beijing, China from 16 to 18 September 2014. The symposium will be a continuation of the successful previous symposia held every three years since 1987. It will bring together engineers, designers, researchers and scientists from around the world, to promote better understanding on common interests ranging from the latest research findings to the most challenging applications of high performance concrete for construction.

An international conference on the application of of superabsorbent polymers and other new admixtures in concrete construction will be held from 14 to 17 September 2014 at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany. The aim of the conference is to exchange ideas and experience in an open forum. Contributions will address insights from experimental studies, theory or modeling where such new, functional additives are used in cement-based construction materials. Time slots for discussion of the themes and social events are planned to promote an active workshop atmosphere.

fib is pleased to announce a signficant increase in the number of technical papers published in the Structural Concrete journal in 2013 and 2014, at no additional charge to fib members. In 2013 there was an average of nine papers per issue, which is three more per issue than in 2012. In 2014, there are 10 articles in the March issue and 14 articles in the June issue.

The June 2014 issue of the Structural Concrete Journal is now available to fib members via the Wiley Online Library. The June issue of fib-news presents the new structure of fib's Commissions and Task Groups that will be implemented as of January 2015. It also reports on the International Workshop on Concrete Sustainability held in honour of Koji Sakai's retirement, the ACI Spring Convention attended by fib President Gordon Clark and Immediate Past President György L. The event will feature the latest best practice on building dynamics, design, process, wind load, seismic loads as well as consideration for the design team such as lifts, cladding, services, foundations, structural systems and buildability. The 10th fib International PhD Symposium in Civil Engineering will take place in Québec, Canada, from 21-23 July 2014. This bi-annual symposium is an opportunity for PhD candidates to present their work to and connect with the international research community. As in previous editions, the most outstanding papers and presentations will be awarded prizes.

fib and the University of Minho will hold seminar on the durability of concrete structures on 8 May 2014 in Guimaraes, Portugal. Durability is a key component in the sustainability of concrete structures and serves a vital role in the design, construction and rehabilitation of these structures. This first of its kind seminar will provide unique access to the experts and work of fib Commission 5, "Structural service life aspects", along with topics from these experts' individual research and work applying durability principles to practice. Several distinguished local speakers will also participate and provide their insight into the local industry.
